AM I ENGLISH OR ITALIAN?
I was born in the UK and raised in an Italian family. I moved to Norway in 1995 where I am based now, in a small community just outside Oslo.
COMMUNICATION = IDENTITY
I started my career in 1984 in the south of Spain, teaching English as a foreign language. I soon realised that effective communication was much more than simply learning grammar and sentence structure. I understood that
communication was a personal thing.
The way we communicate says something about who we are; it is part of our personal identity.
MUSIC = COMMUNICATION
I have also had a hobby (and passion) for many years, which is playing music. The highlight of my music career was playing in a band called the Utah Saints. In 1993 the Utah Saints played warm-up for U2 in their Zooropa tour of Europe. Music is another important form of communication to millions of people, which is why this was such an important part of my life, and my career. It was in fact music that first brought me to Norway.
GLOBAL PARENTS
I am currently writing a book about being a global parent. I call myself a global parent because I am a parent to two children who are of a different nationality and cultural background to me. This makes my life as a parent more colourful, more exotic, and more challenging. Global parents are rather like global leaders in business, with the only difference being that global parents are more attached to their children than global leaders are to their employees. The book will be out in early 2009.
